Faded Tattoos

During the time I was moving from a cubicle into an office at work, I came across a bundle of temporary tattoos for kids. I had kept them for a couple of years knowing there would eventually be a use for them. With a big event on the calendar, I remembered the tattoos and thought I would test one out to see if they were still viable for use at the upcoming event.

I picked out a bright tattoo, followed the application directions and in a few seconds had a colorful tropical scene featuring a palm tree and a parrot residing on my wrist. Being the beach lover that I am, I enjoyed the miniature beach scene and decided to leave it on. The next morning I noticed the bright colors had faded and the tattoo had become a little tattered looking around the edges. It wasn’t quite as appealing as when I had first applied it so I washed it off.

It is possible for real tattoos to fade, too, so due diligence must be taken in protecting the epidermal artwork. Proper aftercare of a new tattoo, such as the use of Vitamin E lotions and sun blockers, can prolong the bright colors for years.

Are you practicing due diligence in your relationship with your heavenly father? Are you protecting that relationship against “fading” by the prayerful study of his word? Do you apply the ointment of worship on a daily basis? Is the application of blockers of apathy, compromise, unforgiveness and bitterness a matter of utmost concern to you?

We cannot assume all will be well if we don’t actively take measures to assure that our relationship is one of constant commitment to his plan for us. Make that commitment today to keep your relationship with him vibrant and alive with color!

Blessings!
