‘Let Freedom Forever Ring’ at Bartow July 4 Celebration

The theme for the 2010 Fourth of July Celebration for Bartow is “Let Freedom Forever Ring.” The traditional Young Patriot’s Foundation Community Barbecue is Friday, July 2. Barbecue dinners will be available from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Mosaic Park, west of the bandshell. Special guest is Congressman Adam Putnam, (unless there is a Congressional vote that day in Washington, D.C.). Enjoy a chicken dinner with all the trimmings for only $8, and at the same time you’ll be helping out four charitable organizations: HELP of Fort Meade, Lake Wales CARE Center, VISTE of Lakeland and Bartow’s Church Service Center. For tickets, call Don Wilson at (863) 533-7117. If you don’t feel like chicken that day, you are still welcome to contribute to these worthy charities. In case of rain, dinners will be served in the Bartow Civic Center.

The Bartow Adult Concert Band will perform a free patriotic concert on Sunday, July 4, from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Bartow Civic Center. This is traditionally a very popular event, so if you’re planning on going, be sure to arrive early to get a seat – it’s first come, first served.

Following the concert, Bartow’s Fourth of July Extravaganza begins at Mosaic Park with all day entertainment, rides and good food. You can stay and catch Bartow’s fireworks display at 9:30 p.m. – it’s usually one of the county’s best! Here’s the schedule:
