Education Band Wagon

Another election season is here and your vote could not be more important. Since the Bush Administration in Florida, local and state politicians have been lying to the public concerning Education and Employment. They have misled us by declaring, employment is not possible without education. They claim prospective employers will not come to Florida as a result of the State’s inadequate education standards.

Based upon Unemployment Compensation Data, Florida Officials report about 11% Unemployment but characteristic of their erroneous, calculation methods, the figure is much higher. For many citizens, their U.C. has either expired or they were unable to apply for it. Politicians ignore this statistic. Instead, “SB6”, “FCAT’s” and “Class Size Reduction” have dominated their agenda and subsequent headlines. At substantial cost to the tax payers, what has this accomplished? Very Little!

In the State of Florida, no longer is there evidence to support Education is the key to Employment. What politicians have created is, bitter debate over the future of Education, alienation of Teaching Professionals, increased High School Drop Out Rates, lack of faith in providing meaningful state testing(FCAT) and most important, a large number of citizens with college degrees and no place for them to work. The time has come to replace these politicians with those who will address the real issue of Florida, Epidemic Unemployment. For too long, they have enjoyed the ride on the Education Band Wagon to get themselves elected.

Let’s vote for individuals who will make it a priority to provide employment for those who have, already completed their education. For those who have college degrees, this implies jobs with pay, complimentary to their education investment. If your representatives argue, Florida Unemployment is over dramatized, ask them to speak with the recipients of the Federal EUC, (Emergency Unemployment Compensation) designed for Florida Citizens who have remained unemployed, for several years.
