USF Poly’s Extended University offers spring programs

The University of South Florida Polytechnic’s Extended University is now accepting applications for the following spring 2012 programs.

  • Principles and Practices of Engineering (PE) Review. Fridays, Jan. 13 – March 16, 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. (online of face-to-face). This comprehensive review seminar provides outstanding preparation for the NCEES Professional Engineering Exam for Electrical Engineering – Power. This seminar will cover each portion of the exam, which was totally restructured in April 2009. Cost: $650 (IEEE members: $500). Register online at http://www.poly.usf.edu/maneng.
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE Exam) Review. Fridays, Jan. 13 – March 16, 2:00pm – 5:00pm (online or face-to-face). This comprehensive review seminar provides outstanding preparation for the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering exam.  The major content areas of the exam will be covered in this review.  Cost: $600.   • Florida Child Care Professional Credential. Two cohorts available. Cohort one: Saturdays, Jan. 28 – June 16, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Cohort two: Saturdays, July 14 – Dec. 8, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. (No class meetings on April 7, Sept. 22, or Nov. 24.) A comprehensive program in FCCPC training provides a foundation for work in early childhood programs serving children from birth to age five. Students who complete the program receive an FCCPC that meets the Florida staff training licensing requirements. Training consists of a minimum of 120 clock hours of early childhood instruction, 80 contact hours, and at least two methods of formal assessment that offers “Birth through Five” certification.
  • GMAT Prep Course (Math and Verbal Review). Saturdays, Feb. 11 – March 3, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. Prepare for success on the GMAT exam (coming in March or April).  Review quantitative reasoning, problem solving, graphic data interpretation, basic mathematical skills and elementary concepts.  Also improve your reading comprehension and writing ability.  Analyze situation questions, understand and evaluate written passages, and recognize basic conventions of standard written English.   • AutoCAD 2012 Essentials Training. Tuesdays, March 20 – May 22, 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. This class covers the essential core topics for working with AutoCAD.  The strategy is to start with a few basic tools that enable the student to create and edit a simple drawing, and then continue to develop those tools.  More advanced tools are also introduced throughout the course. Early registration $500 (before March 6).   • Inventor 2012 – Introduction to Solid Modeling. Wednesdays, March 21 – May 23, time to be determined. This course instructs students in the best usage approaches for parametric design philosophy through a hands-on, practice-intensive curriculum. Students acquire the knowledge needed to complete the process of designing models from conceptual sketching, through to solid modeling, assembly design, and drawing production.
